|Seth Davidson, biologist and Vice-President of FERMATA, recently assessed the Nature Center hiking trail for the Texas Parks and Wildlife and State Highway Departments' new "Nature Trails" project. Mr. Davidson was excited about the Nature Center's river habitat and extensive canebrakes. He praised our efforts to preserve this vanishing habitat and noted that it was prime habitat for the White-collared Seedeater. Other interesting birds of the region are the Hybridized Parula, a cross between the Northern and Tropical races, the Rufous Capped Warbler, and the Lewis' Woodpecker that entered the region this past fall and winter.
